Want to know how to fly and travel with carry on only?
Planepack provides advice, tips, interviews and podcasts to fly and travel light.
For years, people have been amazed that I travel with only carry-on luggage. It started in 2008 when I had to pack light and discovered the freedom it offered. Since then, traveling light has been more than just a packing strategy—it’s a way of experiencing the world more thoughtfully.
Planepack began as a project to encourage minimalist travel, but it has grown into something bigger. As an artist, writer, and publisher, I now explore how light travel, creativity, and mindful observation intersect. Sketching on the go, capturing stories, and embracing the simplicity of travel all play a role in how we engage with the world.
In 2025, Planepack will fully merge into my creative practice at Bobby Graham Publishers, where I continue to explore art, storytelling, and travel in new ways. In the meantime, I invite you to reflect on how traveling light isn’t just about what you pack—but how you see, experience, and create along the way.
Let’s keep exploring—thoughtfully, creatively, and lightly.
I hope you enjoy Planepack and that it inspires you to travel light.
I’m going to Belgrade and Montenegro. This year I’m joined by Denis, a Parisian urban sketcher. We’re spending a week at the coast, capturing Tivat and surrounds.
Some airlines have increased the weight limit for carry-on luggage. Check the new weights.
I showcase a weekend getaway wardrobe for the coast or for the countryside. Always planning for light travel!
What do I take in my handbag? How big is my bag? Usually bigger than this purse! This is my essential handbag packing list.
